The Working Group in Applied
Mathematics and Computational
Science (AMCS)
is composed of faculty and students drawn from a wide
range of Schools at the University of Pennsylvania. The WGAMCS
provides a forum for researchers from fields that involve mathematics
in a significant way to meet and discuss problems of common interest.
We have now established a new interdepartmental, interschool
graduate group offering doctoral and masters degrees in Applied Math
and Computational Science.
The AMCS Kickoff
Symposium, held on September 27, 2008 was a great success. We thank
the speakers, Marsha
Berger (NYU), Herbert
Edelsbrunner (Duke), Robert
MacPherson (IAS), and
Michael Miller (JHU), Leslie Greengard
(NYU)
and panelists, Michael Kearns, and Robert Ghrist.
Howard Hughes Initiative in Biomedical Imaging & Informational
